CBI will rely on the crime scene recreation done by Delhi Police in the case of controversial death of businessman Manoj Vashisht, allegedly involved in several crimes, at a restaurant in the national capital during a scuffle with the police when shots were also fired from both sides.

CBI sources said the agency was satisfied by the report of crime scene recreation prepared by Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), which was roped in by Delhi Police.

In crime scene reenactment, forensic experts examine statements of witnesses, shots fired, angle of bullet movement among other parameters to arrive at a conclusion as to how the shooting incident might have taken place.

Such recreations have played crucial role to nail the role of policemen in fake encounters probe such as Ishrat Jahan case, Shehla Masood murder among others.

The CBI sources said the report given by FSL was satisfactory and there was no need to repeat the exercise.

They said the agency had recently examined several eyewitnesses in connection with the controversial death of Vashisht and would soon be calling people who had business interests with him.

Vashisht had died of a bullet injury received during a scuffle with personnel of Delhi Police's Special Cell on May 16 at Sagar Ratna restaurant in Rajendra Nagar of Central Delhi, with forensic reports suggesting he was killed by a bullet from his own gun.
