VCs, admin asked to ensure ragging is stopped in Uttarakhand

Secretary to the Governor, Bhupinder Kaur Aulakh today asked VCs of universities and the administration to ensure that ragging is stopped completely on the campuses of universities and colleges in Uttarakhand.

Holding ajoint meeting of Vice-Chancellors of universities and the administration, she said the directions of the Supreme Court and the UGC in this regard must be followed strictly.

She told the VCs that the teachers and the management of universities had the responsibility to create a harmonious environment for students.

Inspection or monitoring committees must be constituted at the college and hostel levels Aulakh said.

At the time of admissions every year, an agreement letter (based on the format given by the SC) should be taken from parents or guardians of the students, she said.
 

All the Vice Chancellors, Dehradun District Magistrate Ravinath Raman and IG (Garhwal) Pushpak Jyoti were present in the meeting.
