Indian Golf Union men's order of merit No. 6 Veer Ahlawat of Delhi and Bengaluru's Jaibir Singh (ranked 8th) are all set to showcase their talent at the MCB Indian Ocean Amateur Golf Open that gets underway at the Heritage Golf Club, Mauritius here tomorrow.

The 25-year-old golfer, Jaibir was part of the victorious Indian team of the 12th SAARC Team Championship in June this year while Ahlawat, 19, finished 2nd at 2015 IGU Kerala Amateur.

The duo has been selected as per the rotational policy of the IGU. Indian golfers will be challenged by 53 players from Mauritius, Reunion Island, South Africa, Switzerland and France in a 54-hole stroke play event.

The 3rd edition of MCB Indian Ocean Amateur is a listed event for the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR), and that pushes the stakes for both the Indian golfers.

Ahlawat and Jaibir are languishing at 825 and 1942 ranks respectively in WAGR.

Team manager Raian F Irani, also a former president of IGU said, "The Heritage Golf Course has 10 par 4's, four par 3's and four par 5's. The course has also played host to the first tri-sanctioned event this year, the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

"It has also got lot of elevation changes with contours on the fairways and greens. Being next to the ocean, the strong wind will play a major part in determining scores. I am confident that both the golfer will put up a brave front against quality opposition."

Last year, Noida's Simarjeet Singh and Delhi's Arjun Sharma went to represent India in this event where Sharma finished 6th.
