Veeri calls on Governor, discusses various issues

Member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council Syed Bashir Ahmad Veeri today called on Governor N N Vohra at Raj Bhawan here, and discussed various issues including environmental protection in the state which has a fragile bio-diversity, an official spokesman said.

He also discussed the fast advancing threats from climate change and global warming.

The Governor mentioned a few steps in this regard which had been initiated by the SKUAST-Kashmir, and suggested to Veeri the usefulness of a planned consultation being organised for involving all concerned authorities to enlarge awareness of the time-bound measures which need to be urgently implemented to mitigate the awaiting disasters.
 

Meanwhile, Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University MPS Ishar also called on the Governor and briefed him about preparations for the 101st Session of the Indian Science Congress to be held here from February 3 to 7, 2014.

He briefed the Governor about the projects undertaken by the University Administration for infrastructure development.

Navin K Choudhary, the Principal Secretary to the Governor, was present in the meeting.
