Vegetables grown alongside rail tracks to be sent for testing

Raising the issue in the legislative council today, Congress legislator Bhai Jagtap said that it was hazardous for the people in the city where it is sold and consumed.

"Water mixed with chemical substance is used for cultivation of vegetables alongside the railway tracks affecting the health of the people," Jagtap said.

The minister said that though the government has not received any complaint on this till now, samples of the vegetables would be collected and sent for testing and strong action would be taken against those found responsible.
