Vehicle carrying buffaloes torched in Rajouri, 6 arrested

A vehicle carrying buffaloes was torched allegedly by some VHP and Bajrang Dal activists in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district.

Giving details, police said they intercepted two vehicles carrying buffaloes from Jammu to Rajouri in Kalakote area after a chase as one of vehicles tried to run down policemen today, a senior police officer said.

The vehicles, which passed through various checkpoints on Jammu-Rajouri road, were seized and six suspected smugglers arrested, he said.

As they were being brought to police station, people mostly VHP and Bajrang Dal activists held protests and set afire one of vehicles, the officer said.
 

However, no one was injured in the incident, he said, adding that a case has been registered and people involved in arson have been identified and would be arrested.
