Vehicular traffic disrupted due to road blockade in Odisha

Vehicular traffic was disrupted today on busy Paradip-Daitary expressway as irate locals staged road blockade to protest against death of two persons in a road accident near Panchpandav junction, police said.

A 65-year-old woman and her 30-year-old nephew died in the road accident today as a truck ran over the pedestrians killing them instantly on the spot, police said.

The accident occured when the truck was heading towards Paradip, they said.

The deceased had been identified as Sachisri Khatua (65) and Balram Jagati (30).

The road blockade which continued for over four hours was lifted after the district administration disbursed Rs 20,000 ex-gratia from district Red Cross society funds to the bereaved family members, police added.
