Veteran journalist Amarendra Bose passes away

Veteran journalist Amarendra Bose passed away here today following cardiac arrest, family sources said.

Bose (88) is survived by wife, a son and a daughter.

In a career spanning over 60 years, Bose had started writing for erstwhile Hindustan Standard and Blitz before contributing to The Telegraph and The Indian Express from Mayurbhanj district. He was at present writing for Times of India and UNI from the district, the sources said.

Bose had keen interest in environment and wildlife and his stories on the subject, particularly on Similipal, were widely published.

The state government had appointed him as honorary Wildlife Warden for two years. Several organisations had honoured him for his contribution in the field of environment and wildlife, they said.
 

People from different walks of life including educationists, politicians and journalists visited his place to pay their last respect.
