Former PTI Deputy General Manager and veteran journalist ND Prabhu passed away at a hospital here today after a bout of illness. He was 85.
Prabhu, who died of cardiac arrest this morning, had been ailing for a few weeks, said his son, Ramesh Prabhu.
'NDP', as he was widely known in press circles, served PTI from 1952 in various capacities -- as News Editor, AGM, DGM and Officer on Special Duty -- till his retirement in 1991.
After a long stint in Mumbai, Prabhu moved to Delhi and was actively involved in the PTI Photo Service. He also worked on the Central Desk when it was shifted to Delhi in 1971.
He was known for his exceptional editorial skills and organisational capabilities and knew most of the staff on a first-name basis. He was also connected with social activities.
Prabhu is survived by his son and daughter, Nanda.
The funeral will take place tomorrow, Ramesh Prabhu said.
