Veteran Rushmi shocks young Kyra Shroff

Rushmi bageled the 19-year old Kyra en route to a convincing 6-3 6-0 win the in the second round of the event.

The 34-year old Rushmi will play China's Nan nan Zhang in the quarter-finals. Zhang beat Ju-Eun Kim of South Korea 6-2 6-2 in her second round match.

In other matches of the day, second seed Briton Emily Webely Smith overcame Kinoshita of Jpana 7-6 (4), 6-2.

Fourth seed Zi Yang of China rallied from a 2-5 deficit to beat Chinese Taipei's Pei Chi Lee 7-5, 6-1.

Top seed Wing Yau Venise Chan of Hong Kong defeated Sowjanya Bavisetty 6-2 6-4 to enter the quarter-finals.
