Noted socialist leader and former MLA Tarini Charana Patnaik, representing Kabisurya Nagara in the Assembly, passed away here today, family sources said.
Patnaik (99), who was suffering from several diseases, is survived by two daughters.
Patnaik was elected as an MLA from Kabisurya Nagara as a Janata Party candidate in 1977. He was the president of the Aska Cooperative Sugar Industries Limited and was associated with different trade unions.
Several political and trade union leaders visited to his residence and paid homage to him.
