Veteran socialist Prabhu Narayan passes away

The leader, who was not keeping well for the last one month, was admitted to a private hospital here on May 3 after he complained of chest congestion.

His condition worsened last night and he went into coma, following which his family brought him back to their house in Kashipura area, where he breathed his last at around 10:00 am, his son Arvind Singh said.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters and three sons.

Singh was elected to the Lok Sabha in 1959 on Socialist Party ticket and also remained Uttar Pardesh's power and health minister.
