Vice President M Hamid Ansari would be the chief guest at the valedictory function of the Catholic Association of South Kanara (CASK) centenary celebrations, CASK president Derek Lobo said here today.
Addressing reporters, he said the function would be held on September 21 at Milagres hall here. Governor of Karnataka Vajubhai Vala and Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah would be guests of honour at the function.
The Catholic Association of South Kanara is the oldest Catholic lay organization in South India established in 1914 by the then Bishop Paul Perini and registered under the Societies Act in 1925. The association is celebrating its centenary this year.
Former External Affairs Ministry Secretary Eric Gonsalves, and chief postmaster general of Karnataka circle M S Ramanujan would also be present, he said. Mangalore Bishop and patron of CASK Aloysius Paul D'Souza would preside over the function.
