Vicky Tyagi murder case: Police on lookout for BJP leader

Police are on the lookout for a BJP leader, accused in the murder of gangster Vicky Tyagi, and have conducted searches at several places in the district.

A police team led by City SP raided the residence of accused BJP leader Ranjan Vir Singh last evening in connection with the murder case, but did not find him there.

Pratibha Tyagi, mother of the deceased had lodged an FIR against several people including the BJP leader.

Vicky Tyagi was shot by a juvenile who had entered a courtroom here masquerading as a lawyer, on February 16.

The juvenile was arrested from the spot the same day and has been sent to jail. Brijbir Singh, another accused in the case was nabbed on February 17 and remanded to judicial custody till March 2.
 

A case has been been registered against several other people including SP Anuj Choudhry, SHO Titawi Sachin Malik and constable Vikas in the incident.

Tyagi was facing trial in the 2011 Barakali murder case in which 8 persons of a family were killed.

Seven policemen, including one sub-inspector, who were escorting Vicky have been suspended for negligence of duty and for failing to provide him security.
