The victory of Congress candidate K S Sabarinathan in the Aruvikkara Assembly bypoll is a recognition of the development works undertaken by the state government by its people, Janata Dal (United) state president, M P Veerendrakumar said today.
"It is the people's recognition to the development activities of the UDF government", he told reporters here after the announcement of results.
By this win, UDF has overcome all the 'baseless allegations' raised by LDF and also the challenge posed by the Sangh parivar, he added.

"BJP was able to get an impressive vote share in the bypoll than any other elections held earlier in the constituency. LDF should think over it," the JD(U) leader said.
In a triangular contest, Sabarinadhan polled 56,448 votes against former speaker Vijayakumar who came second with 46,320 votes. BJP candidate and former Union Minister O Rajagopal gained 34,145 votes in his favour.
Veerendrakumar urged the secular and democratic parties, including the Left, to unitedly contest the coming assembly polls in Bihar so that anti-BJP votes would not split.
"Now the party is a part of UDF," he said to a question about his party's stand on alliance in the state.
