BJP MP from Arunachal West Lok Sabha seat Kiren Rijiju today attributed his victory to the love and affection of the people towards his party.
"Leadership is decided by the people and the course of action is decided by the leaders," Rijiju said.
"I am glad to see that consciousness for democracy has come to the mind of the people of our state. This is first time in the history of BJP to defeat the long-led Congress government in a huge margin against all avoidable odds which are still prevailing," he said.
Meanwhile, Congress candidate Takam Sanjoy, who tasted defeat in the constituency, accepted the verdict of the people with grace and humility.
"I accept the verdict of the people in favour of BJP candidate Kiren Rijiju, who has won with a thumping majority. I have urged Kiren to take care of all sections of the people of the constituency and the greater causes of the state as the BJP has won the mandate to rule the country for the next five years," Sanjoy said in a statement.
