Jubilant after winning eight out of 12 seats in the Legislative Council polls, Samajwadi Party today said the result shows victory of secular forces and defeat of communal ones.
"The results showed victory of secular forces and defeat of the communal party. They should have taken lessons from defeat in by-elections and Cantt board polls. They should rid themselves from (Narendra) 'Modi magic' slogans," SP spokesman Rajendra Chowdhury said.
The results showed trust of legislators on the development policy of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and distrust against BJP, he said.
"BJP tried every trick to win elections. It had even lured legislators promising them 2017 Assembly election tickets and tried to vitiate political atmosphere. But the results have shown trust on CM's development policy and distrust on BJP," Chowdhury said.
