Four warders of Sehore district jail were suspended today after a video, purportedly showing a convict in possession of a rifle and five rounds and handing them over to a jail gate keeper, went viral last night, an officer said.
"Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Jail, Sanjay Pandey carried out an inquiry into the incident after the video went viral yesterday and subsequently suspended four jail warders of Sehore district for the lapse," Madhya Pradesh Prisons Director General (DG) Sanjay Choudhary told PTI today.
The video purportedly shows Chitaman Yadav, convicted in a murder case, handing over a rifle, possibly a .303 one, and five rounds to the gatekeeper in Khakhi uniform.

Apparently shot in evening, the video also shows a jail warder making an entry of the firearm and ammunition in a register to be received by him for the night vigil.
Yadav has been loddged in the jail for last eight years.
After the clip was aired, he was transferred from the Sehore jail to other prison, Choudhary said.
However, the DG said that the "lapse was not as big as being made out by the media."
"The convicts do assist the jail administration to run the show as per the prison manual," the officer said.
