In view of outbreak of birdflu in neighbouring Karnataka, the district administration, as a preventive measure, has erected 12 check posts at the entry points to monitor vehicles bringing chicken and eggs from that State.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting, convened by District Collector Archana Patnaik, in which officials from animal husbandry, health and transport, poultry farm owners and persons belonging to related business participated, official sources said.
Round the clock vigil would be kept on vehicles carrying chicken and eggs and other related produce from Karnataka and it will be allowed only after spraying chemicals to prevent the spread of the disease, they said.
