The anti-corruption vigilance officials today arrested the in-charge chief district medical officer (CDMO) of Bhadrak district on graft charge.
Gitanjali Pattnaik, additional district medical officer-cum-In-charge CDMO, Bhadrak was caught red handed by the officers of Vigilance, while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs 8,000 from one Rashmiranjan Dash, of village Naripur in the district, an official statement issued by the Vigilance said,
Patnaik was allegedly taking bribe from the supervisor of Sarala Security and Facility Service, Sahidnagar, Bhubaneswar to pass the bill of security guards engaged by the agency in the District Headquarters Hospital, Bhadrak for the month of October, 2017.

"Accordingly, a trap was laid on 18.11.2017 at about 11.15 am. The accused Smt Pattnaik, I/c CDMO, Bhadrak was caught red handed by the Vigilance officer, Balasore Division inside her office chamber, while demanding and accepting bribe Rs 8,000 from the complainant Dash," the statement said.
The bribe money has been recovered from the possession of Pattnaik. Both the hands wash of the accused and wash of the office table drawer gave positive chemical reaction confirming handling and acceptance of bribe by Pattnaik, it said.
Her office chamber, government quarter and residential house at Gabasahi, Bhadrak Town are being searched.
The accused has been arrested. A case has been registered against her at Balasore Vigilance Police Station under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, it said.
Patnaik was not available for comment.
