Vigilance court orders confiscation of building in DA case

A special vigilance court here ordered confiscation of a three-storeyed building belonging to a state government employee against whom a disproportionate assets case is on.

Vigilance Court judge Vipul Sinha passed the order for confiscation of the building of former joint secretary to commercial tax department, Balroop Das, which is standing on 2,400 sq ft area in the city's Kankarbagh locality.

A DA case was registered in the vigilance police station against the officer in 2006 under Special Court Act.

The court observed that present market value of the seized property is more than Rs 1.5 crore.

It was hearing the case filed by the vigilance department against the retired official after finding during preliminary investigation that he had amassed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.
 

The court passed the order after hearing both the sides.
