A special vigilance court today rejected the anticipatory bail petition of Rama Khalkho, one of the accused in the "cash-for-votes" case which was busted by the police a day before Ranchi Mayoral elections.

Vigilance court judge Abani Ranjan Kumar Sinha rejected the petition of Khalko, who is still at large along with two regular bail petitions of the other two accused - Congress leaders Niranjan Shah and Sudhir Kumar Sahu, who are in judicial custody now.

Khalkho, who had contested the April 8 Mayoral elections as an incumbent, is facing charges of electoral malpractice after Rs 21.9 lakh was seized from a hotel on April 7.

While Shah and Sahu were arrested soon after the police raids, Khalkho is absconding following a lower court's arrest warrants against her.

The mayoral poll, which held on April 8, has since been countermanded.
