Vigilance detects property of over Rs one cr from MV inspector

Vigilance sleuths today detected property worth Rs 1.47 crore in the possession of a motor vehicle inspector working at the office of the Road Transport Office (RTO) in Odisha's Malkangiri district.

The vigilance sleuths conducted simultaneous raids on the office and residences of one Prabhas Kumar Bagla on the charge of accumulation of property disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Bagla joined the service as a junior inspector in 2003 and in the short period he has accumulated assets which included Rs 1.15 lakh cash (found during search), Rs 4.94 lakh deposit in bank account, four buildings, one apartment and two plots of land, a release said.
 

The department estimated the property in possession of Bagla at Rs 1,46,95,000 and raids were still on, it said.
