Acting on a complaint, the Vigilance team laid a trap and caught Ram red handed as soon as he received the graft from one Ramakant Sharma, a native of Badalpur village under Narhat police station, the Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Vigilance, P.K. Thakur said.

Ram had demanded the bribe for ensuring arrest of the accused persons in the rape case of Sharma's daughter and to carry out expeditious investigation in the matter, he said.

Sharma had lodged a written complaint with the vigilance bureau about demand for graft being made by the police officer and accordingly laid a trap to nab the latter, the ADG (Vigilance) said.

The vigilance has laid 37 traps and arrested 43 government employees and officials on graft charges, Thakur said.
