Vigilance nabs two officials on graft charge

The vigilance department today arrested two government officials on graft charge from Bihar's Nawada and Kishanganj districts, an official said.

Acting on a complaint, a vigilance team arrested the Kishanganj's district statistical officer Awadesh Kumar Ram as soon as he took Rs 10,000 in bribe at his office from one Mahendra Kumar, the Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Vigilance, Ravinder Kumar said.

The accused official had demanded bribe from the complainant to approve his earned leave, he said.

Another vigilance team caught a revenue employee Vijay Singh red-handed accepting Rs 10,000 bribe at his a rented premise in Sirdalla sub-division in Nawada district from mutation of land belonging to one Mela Ravi Das, Kumar said.
 

Both tainted officials will be brought to the vigilance headquarters at Patna where they will be interrogated before being produced a designated court for judicial remand, the ADG said.
