He said the searches were carried out after a "verification" into allegations of accumulating disproportionate assets by the official showed that Ganaie accumulated movable and immovable assets through "corrupt practices" at Anantnag and Jammu.
"The official has constructed a residential house at Machbawan on Khannabal-Pahalgam road worth about Rs 1.30 crore and has also purchased a residential house at Channi Rammu in Jammu worth about Rs 45 lakhs and land measuring nearly half-an-acre at Chetipaibugh-Mattan," the spokesman said.
"The official has also raised other movable assets in the shape of bank deposits and is known to be living a luxurious life beyond his means," the spokesman said.
