Vigilance sleuths arrest BDO for accepting Rs 40,000 as bribe

Vigilance sleuths today arrested a Block Development Officer (BDO) and a technical assistant with Pupri block of Sitamarhi district on graft charges, an official release said.

A Vigilance Investigation Bureau team caught Vinit Kumar Sinha, a Block Development Officer (BDO) with Pupri block and Satyendra Kumar Sahni, a technical assistant with Pupri block of Sitamarhi district red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000.

One Ram Kailash Ram, a resident of Harpur Bhalha under Bathnaha police station of the district, had filed a complaint with Vigilance bureau that the accused Vinit Kumar Sinha, Pupri BDO, had demanded Rs 50,000 as bribe for sending absentee register for the release of his salary dues.
 

After verifying the complaint which was found to be correct, a flying squad team headed by Dy SP Vijay Kumar Srivastava raided the BDO's official residence at Pupri where the team caught the BDO Vinit Kumar Sinha and his agent Satyendra Kumar Sahni, a technical assistant, red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs 40,000.

During the raid, the Vigilance team also seized Rs 8.07 lakh from the house of the BDO's residence, the release said.

The accused would be produced before the Special Vigilance Court, Muzaffarpur after the completion of interrogation of the accused, it said.

Altogether 61 accused persons have been arrested in 55 trap cases laid by the Vigilance department so far in 2016.
