Vigilance sleuths nabs a revenue employee on a graft charge

Vigilance sleuths today arrested an employee of the revenue department on graft charge from Purnea district, a Vigilance department release said.

Sleuths of the Vigilance Investigation Bureau caught one Abdul Rahman - an employee posted with Banmankhi block-cum-circle office in Purnea district- red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 for issuing rent receipt for land, it said.

One Gajendra Yadav, a resident of Chandpur Bhagaha village under Banmankhi block of Purnea district, had lodged a complaint with the Vigilance Investigation Bureau that the revenue employee was demanding a bribe of Rs 35,000 for issuing a rent receipt for land, the release said.
 

The allegations were found to be correct during the verification carried out by the Bureau, it said.

A flying squad team was constituted under Deputy Superintendent of Police Vimalendu Kumar Verma who raided and caught Abdul Rahman- a revenue employee with Banmankhi circle office- red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 from a private office located in front of Banmankhi Sub-Divisional office.

Altogether 70 persons have been arrested in 64 trap cases laid out by the Bureau so far in 2017.
