Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij today suspended an orthopaedic surgeon of a government-run hospital here for alleged laxity in providing treatment.
Vij ordered the action during his surprise visit to B K Hospital to take stock of its preparedness to counter the spread of dengue in the district.
"If any doctor is found acting negligently, strict action would be taken against him," he later told reporters.

While visiting the surgical ward of the hospital, the minister was approached by patients who complained of rude behaviour by the hospital staff, including doctors and nurses.
Among them, a youth, who was there with a fractured leg, told that his operation had been delayed by a month.
Hearing this, Vij asked for the hospital's orthopaedic surgeon, who was found to have not been coming for last two days despite his leave not being sanctioned.
Replying to a media question, Vij said the doctor has been suspended and that the state government would soon arrange for his replacement.
