"I have my World Cup final after two months and I am focussed on that. After that I will concentrate on the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games in 2014. Beyond that, I will be trying to do my best in the 2016 Olympics," Vijay said here today.

A month after his exploits at the Royal Artillery Barracks, the 29-year-old shooter from Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh says it's payback time now.

"The sport gives you so much and you need to return by doing something for the sport. There are so many players who take up coaching, run institutes and train upcoming athletes at the grass root level.

"Whatever an athlete takes from the sport he should give it back to the public," Vijay said on the sidelines of the Seed Gun for Glory Shooting Championship, held under the aegis of Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation.

Vijay said London Games bronze medal winner, Narang's initiative will help the young shooters to understand the dynamics of the sport better.

"Shooting rules are not easily understood as football, and that is why the championship is a good step. Even if you are not a national player or haven't played the sport before, you can still come here and get to know the sport better.

"The championship is a good concept for promoting upcoming shooters and increasing the popularity of the sport."

Speaking on the welcome he received on his arrival from London, the triple-gold medallist at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, said he was overwhelmed.

"The celebration and felicitations are still on, and I'm happy that I was able to make my parents happy and the entire country proud. My life has changed. The confidence level is soaring high and I hope it will help me perform even better in the future."
