The 25th Vijayawada Book Festival, organised by the Vijayawada Book Festival Society in association with the National Book Trust, commenced here today.
Former IAS officer R Vydyanatha Iyer inaugurated the 11-day-long festival and Andhra Pradesh Rural Development Minister D Manikyavara Prasad was chief guest at its inaugural event.
About 164 publishers, book distributors and book sellers are participating in the exhibition.
Prominent among them are National Book Trust, Publications Division, Sahitya Academy and many others.
Suppliers and manufacturers of educational instruments are also participating in the exhibition.
During the festival, the Society conducts seminars and literary events like birth centenary celebrations of prominent Telugu literary giants.
The Vijayawada Book Festival Society also conducts various competitions for students.
