Vijayawada will host the India Aviation Summit for the first time here tomorrow with discussions focusing on the challenges facing the aviation sector and the strategies to be adopted for enhancing regional air connectivity.

Union Civil Aviation Ministry, in concert with AP government and FICCI, is organising the summit wherein Civil Aviation Minister P Ashok Gajapati Raju will deliver the keynote address.

Krishna District Collector Babu Ahamed told reporters here this afternoon that the summit would discuss among other things the high taxation regime, the impediments in indigenous aerospace manufacturing and MRO (maintenance, repair, overhaul), skill deficit and the global strategies in enhancing regional air connectivity.

Global Stars, UK-based 4-ship aerobatics team, would conduct an air show at Punnami Ghat on the banks of river Krishna.

The Global Stars, who won many titles in advanced and unlimited aerobatic competitions, including the prestigious British Aerobatic Championship, would display their aerobatic skills on C300 small aircraft.

Four of these airplanes have already reached Vijayawada and the team conducted a rehearsal this morning.

There would be five aerobatic shows in all on January 12, 13 and 14 at Punnami Ghat, Babu said.
