Vijaykanth granted bail

DMDK leader Vijaykanth was granted bail today here in a case registered against him in connection with unruly behaviour during his appearance in a court in Kanyakumari district on July 11.

The actor-politician, who appeared before Judicial Magistrate I Triveni was granted bail on furnishing two personal sureties for Rs.10,000 each.

Earlier, Vijaykant, the Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, was granted anticipatory bail by the high court which had directed him to appear before the magistrate court and obtain the relief.

Vijaykanth has been accused of signalling to his supporters to attack the public prosecutor and interfering in the functioning of the court work when he appeared before the magistrate court in Nagercoil on July 11 in connection with a defamation case filed against him by the state government.
