- Olympian boxer Vijender Singh was today questioned by the Punjab Police in connection with the recent recovery of 26 kg of heroin worth Rs 130 crore.

A highly placed Punjab Police officer told PTI that Vijender was quizzed by a two-member probe team of Fatehgarh Sahib police about the recovery of his SUV near the residence of prime accused Anoop Singh Kahlon, an NRI and alleged drug peddler.

He was also asked about the statement of his sparring partner Ram Singh that the duo had taken small quantities of the drug as "food supplement" and claims of Kahlon that he and the star boxer were in regular touch.

Though Punjab Police declined to make public the place where Vijender was questioned, the sources said this was done in Panchkula. The probe team comprised a DSP and an Inspector.
