Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta Friday wrote to the speaker, asking him to withdraw a July 12 circular nominating 13 AAP MLAs to municipal corporations for a third year on the trot.

In the letter to Speaker Ram Niwas Goel, Gupta alleged he has violated the Constitution by not nominating any BJP MLA to any of the three municipal corporations in the last four-and-a-half years.

"BJP MLAs have been excluded from nomination to MCDs. As man as 13 MLAs have been nominated for the third consecutive year. It is gross violation of constitutional provisions," Gupta said in the letter.

"It is denial of the right of every member of the assembly to be nominated to the local bodies at least once during its five-year term as per constitutional provisions," he said.

Gupta asked the speaker to withdraw and revise the circular, and said that if he fails to do so, BJP MLAs will be forced to take legal action.
