Vikramaditya, son of former chief minister Virbhadra Singh, today warned the ruling BJP government against closing the health and educational institutions opened by the Congress government in public interest, saying that any such "misadventure" would invite statewide agitation.

"The BJP government should avoid any provocative action, like closing the health and educational institutions, as the Congress party would oppose it tooth and nail and the situation would be like Jhanjehli in Seraj constituency," Vikramaditya said.

Earlier this month, a court decision to quash a notification regarding opening of a tehsil at Janjehli angered local residents who took out protests against the state government.

Vikramaditya said he would support all the pro-people decisions of the government but oppose any anti-people move.

He said that Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur should concentrate on resource mobilisation and governance.

"The financial health of the state is not good and even the BJP government headed by PK Dhumal had left huge debt burden while demitting office in December 2012," he said.

He also demanded white paper on funds received from the Centre during past two months "to bring the truth to light".
