Village head held for rape

A village head was today

arrested for allegedly abducting a girl from Chitbaragaon area here and raping her, police said today.

The 17-year-old girl was allegedly abducted by the village head Ashok Sahni on May 30.

He took the girl to Buxar in Bihar and raped her in a hotel, police said.

Later Sahni left the girl in Phephna area of the district and escaped from the spot, they said.

On the complaint of the girl's father, an FIR was lodged against Sahni under section 363 (punishment for kidnapping) and 376 (rape) of the IPC.

Additional Superintendent of Police K C Goswami said Sahni has been arrested.
