Village head shot at in Amethi

A 38-year-old village head of Narvahanpur of the district was today shot at allegedly by his rivals, police said.

Ashok Kumar Singh was shot at by his rivals under police station Piparpur in Amethi district, police said.

Singh is stated to be critical and has been referred to trauma centre in Lucknow after primary treatment in Sultanpur, Amethi Circle Officer R K Chaturvadi said.

Chaturvadi said some old enmity may be the reason behind the incident. Adequate police force has been deployed to avoid some untoward incident in the village, he added.

However, no arrest has been made till the report came in as police has not received any complaint from the victim's side.
 

Police is looking into the matter from all sides and is vigilant in this regard to maintain law and order, Chaturvedi said.
