Village official arrested for allegedly accepting bribe

A village official who allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe from a villager for official work was arrested by the Thane unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today evening in Sahapur, ACB sources said today.

Superintendent of Police ACB Sandeep Karnik, told PTI that the village official of Saza-Asangaon of Shahapur had demanded Rs 2000 from a villager for entering his as well as his uncle's name in a document as legal heirs.

The aggrieved complainant lodged a complaint with the Thane unit of the ACB, which laid a trap and nabbed Laxman Maruti Sonare (55) accepting the bribe money near the Forest Office at Shahapur, ACB sources said.
 

An offence under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the arrested village official with the Shahapur police, the ACB said.
