Assamese film "Village Rockstars" will be screened in the India Gold section (fiction) at the upcoming Jio MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival.

Directed by Rima Das, "Village Rockstars" is about a middle-aged man called Chaudhury. He is a retired geography teacher from a small village in Assam whose life takes an unexpected turn when his son gifts him a pair of binoculars.

The film was officially unveiled at the recent Cannes Film Market as part of the 'Hong Kong Goes to Cannes' programme.

"Village Rockstars" was also one of the four titles selected in March at the Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) and had its world premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival.

Another film to be screened in the India Gold (Documentary) section is "Machines".

Directed by Rahul Jain, the film had its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival 2017.

Jio MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival will take place from October 12 to 18.
