A village sarpanch in the district was seriously injured when local Shiv Sena and BJP workers allegedly clashed over the results of gram panchayat byelection, police said today.
The panchayat bypoll at Kulgaon village in Badlapur township of Thane was held on August 4, the results of which were declared yesterday, assistant police inspector Dhananjay Pore said.
The local Sena and BJP workers had a feud over the results.

Sarpanch Vijay Pawaskar of Shiv Sena yesterday filed a complaint that about nine BJP workers allegedly stormed into his house and attacked him and his family members in which he sustained serious injuries, Pore said.
He also complained that women members of his family were allegedly pulled out of the house and molested by the workers, the ASI said.
Later, a cross complaint was filed by local BJP leader Pratiksha Gaikar against Pawaskar and six other Sena members. She said that Pawaskar along with his men barged into her house and allegedly attacked those inside and molested the women.
Based on the complaints, offences have been registered under sections 395 (dacoity), 452 (house tresspass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC, police said, adding that no arrest has been made so far in this regard.
The village sarpanch has been admitted to a hospital in Ulhasnagar, police added.
