A 29-year-old villager from Partole in Sahapur taluka here has been arrested for allegedly abetting his sister-in law to commit suicide, district rural police said today.

PSI VB Bhangre of Khinavali police station under Sahapur division told PTI that the incident took place on April 14 when the victim--Kunda--consumed poison and died on her way to the hospital.

Kunda was married to Anil Pradhan (28) but was living with her parents after some marital troubles cropped up between the couple.

Her brother-in-law Balram Wagh (29) used to frequently chide Kunda for this and allegedly asked her parents to send her back to in-laws.

However, Kunda was reluctant to return and as the harassment increased with each passing day, she decided to end her life, police said.

Wagh was arrested last evening after being charged under sections 306 (abetment of suicide), 323 (hurt) and 504 (insult) of the IPC and further probe was on.
