A villager who made a failed bid to immolate himself in the premises of the Integrated Rural Development Project (IRDP) office at Dahanu has been arrested, a police officer said here today.
Police inspector Uttam Sonawane of the Dahanu police station said that on June 30, 2015, Shyamsunder Chowdhari had submitted a memorandum to IRDP office and had warned that he would immolate himself.
Yesterday at about 1.15 pm noon, he reached the IRDP office, doused himself with kerosene and made an attempt to set himself ablaze. Those present at the scene prevented him from immolating himself, the police officer said.
The police booked him under Section 309 of the Indian Penal Code, the inspector added.
