Villagers agree to resolve dispute with ostracised tribal

Three days after a tribal family was ostracised, the accused villagers of Jhapan village under Kuwali police station have agreed to resolve the issue following the intervention of East Singhbhum district police today.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Musaboni), Ajit Kumar Vimal, who visited the village, had discussion with both parties and asked to sort out the problem amicably, the police said.

The villagers had ostracised the family of Sakro Hansda for allegedly practicing black magic by his wife and barred them from taking part in any community function, using of community pond and tube-well in the village on January 4.
 

When Vimal has gone to investigate the matter, the villagers assured the police to settle the issue amicably following a meeting later in the day today.

Vimal said police would take action against the responsible villagers, if they failed to settle the issue by tomorrow.
