Over 500 agitators blocked Jammu-Pathankot highway at Dayalachak to protest lack of water supply to several villages in Saleh belt for the past one week, police said.

Raising anti-government slogans, they demanded immediate restoration of water supply to the region.

"We are facing water crises for the past one week. Life without water in this hot summer is slow death for us. Despite repeated pleas, the government has failed to provide us drinking water supply," Dayalachak sarpanch Tarseen Chand said.

The government should immediately restore water supply to this border belt, he said.

The traffic on the highway was restored after authorities assured the villagers of restoring water supply.
