A youth was shot dead allegedly by some locals at Silothi village here over a personal grudge between two groups, sparking protests by residents today.

Claiming that there was a delay in postmortem examination of the youth, Kuldeep, who was gunned down last night, the villagers blocked the Delhi-Rohtak road outside the Trauma Centre in Bahadurgarh town here.

The villagers lifted the blockade after the intervention of police who assured them of getting the postmortem examination conducted as early as possible.

Kuldeep was shot by the assailants at his home here, a police officer said, adding that he was taken to the Trauma Centre in Bahadurgarh town, which declared him dead.

"The killing is the outcome of a grudge nursed by two groups for the last few years," the officer said.

A case has been registered against six persons namely Satyender, Ranbir, Karambir, Kala, Kesav and Sonu based on the complaint by Kuldeep's brother Dalbir Singh, he said

Raids are being conducted at possible hideouts of the accused who were absconding after the crime, he said.
