Villagers clash with police over boy's murder in Bulandshahr

A scuffle broke out between police officials and agitated people of Katiri village today in the district after the cops tried to take the body of an 8-year-old boy for post mortem who had gone missing.

According to Syana Circle Officer (CO) Chittranjan Chauhan, the boy named Shivkant had been missing since Sunday and a complaint was lodged accusing two persons of the village being involved in it.

Police detained the two accused men for questioning during which one of them confessed that he murdered the boy and buried his body in a field outside the village, Chuahan said.

Today when the police and Sub Divisional Magistrate Himanshu Gupta reached the spot to recover the body, agitated villagers tried to stop them from doing so.
 

Gupta was manhandled in the scuffle and a police vehicle was also punctured, Chauhan said.

The villagers were demanding strict action against the guilty. After persuasion the agitators agreed to handover the body for postmortem, the CO said.

Chauhan said investigation is on ascertain the motive behind the murder.
