Several people from Watkhed village in the district were today admitted to the government medical college hospital here after suffering bouts of diarrhoea, officials said.
Medical authorities at the hospital said that 71 villagers from Watkhed had been admitted, adding that they were now out of danger.
While investigations are underway as to what might have caused diarrhoea, officials said that contamination of potable water supplied through tankers might be a reason.
Local Member of Parliament Bhavana Gawali visited the hospital and instructed officials to provide proper treatment to the patients.
She also inspected the village well, which is a source of drinking water for the people of Watkhed.
