: People of Bejalatty forest settlement area in the district are living in constant fear, after a cow was killed in a suspected tiger attack in Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve (STR) area, forest officials said today.
The cow belonging to a tribal woman, Paliammal of the village was found lying dead with bleeding injuries on its neck and throat in STR area on Wednesday evening, they said adding they were informed of the incident on Thursday.
Paliammal had taken her cattle into the forest for grazing on Wednesday, and when she returned home in the evening, she found one cow missing.

Meanwhile, on Thursday a few villagers found the missing cow lying dead and informed Paliammal, who alerted the forest officials.
The officials reached the spot and declared that the cow was killed by a Tiger.
A few days back a bull owned by another person of Mavanatham village was also killed by a Tiger, they said.
In another incident, an elephant was found dead inside Kambanure forest area, forest officials said.
Villagers of Vilamkombai forest in STR area found the pachyderm lying dead and informed the officials, who reached the spot this morning along with veterinary doctors and conducted an examination.
They suspect that the elephant could have died due to ailment.
