Villagers in Rewari attack liquor vend near school

A group of villagers, led by their sarpanch, allegedly attacked a liquor vend here today, alleging that it was situated near a school and temple in violation of rules, police said.

The residents of Anandpur village led by sarpanch (village head) Kulveer were protesting against the opening of the vend. They allegedly broke open the lock of the shop and smashed bottles kept inside, they said.

20 villagers, including the sarpanch, have been booked under various sections of the IPC on a complaint lodged by a vend employee.

No villager has been arrested till now, police said.
